A LITTLE ABOUT PILATES: Imbalances in the body arise from many factors including poor posture, daily tension/stress, repetitive movements (i.e.: driving computer work, sports activities) and insufficient oxygen intake. When the body is out of balance, pain, fatigue, and lack of focus are common results. Pilates is a “low-impact” form of workout performed on mats or apparatus that effectively builds muscle strength, increases flexibility, endurance, coordination, concentration, and develops long, lean muscle. Unlike traditional exercise which typically employs muscle isolation and/or works each area of the body individually, Pilates treats the body as an integrated whole using carefully executed movements and deep abdominal core strength. The use of low resistance/ few repetitions, correct structural alignment, and integrated breathing result in a workout that does not exhaust the muscles beyond effectiveness, does not damage joints, and does not build bulk. Pilates has long been known for its ability to improve performance in sports related activities such as golf, tennis, dance, and is used by many highly regarded athletes and teams. TESTIMONIALS "I've worked out off and on my whole life and never stuck with a routine for any length of time. I found Beach Pilates 5 years ago and it changed my life. I saw results right away and today I am healthier and stronger than I've ever been. My workouts are still interesting and I know I will continue at Beach Pilates for years to come." Patti T., Delran, NJ. "Age and athletic ability are no barriers to success at Beach Pilates. With a great deal of patience and encouragement, Linda helped me achieve shoulders and hips that move without pain, and a new outlook on life. As I'm entering my "70th" year, flexibility, stamina, and strength are achievable goals. Also great fun!" Karin M., Manasqauan, NJ |
